Hi, just a few words to introduce myself. I was born in 1948, so grew up in London in the years just after the war. It was a paradise for children around this time as we were surrounded by bombed out buildings which gave us great scope for inventive games (health and safety, as such, was non-existent so we soon became street wise and learned the pitfalls, Literally as well as figuratively). It was during this time that I first took note of the buildings around me, seeing the skeletal remains of the bombed-out shells of houses was something I found fascinating and this turned, over the years, into a love of architecture and abstract forms  I have always enjoyed the arts in one form or another. In my younger days and even now, I derive great enjoyment from visiting art galleries and exhibits. I enjoy sketching and wood carving as well as, my greatest love, Photography but often find I haven’t the time to indulge in all of them so, invariably, photography assumes the lead role. I have been practicing photography for the last 57 years starting with a Rolleiflex six cm. square format and graduating a few years later to a Nikon F 35 mm. I have always done my own processing as I believe that to maintain control of your image from start to finish is the only way to fully realize one’s vision, consequently much of my time was spent in the darkroom in the early days. I moved over to digital in 2005 after debating with myself over the vices and virtues of doing so and, thanks in no small part to my wife buying me a Nikon D60, I came to the conclusion that, although wet prints will always be superior, digital processing is not far short of it using fine art papers and it suited my workflow better, so, I made the trade-off. My main interests now are Architecture, Abstract and Street Photography with an occasional dabble into Compositing and Landscape. Much of my Architectural work is presented in monochrome as, in my opinion, it suits the subject better, giving me the leeway to concentrate on shadow, shape and form. I am a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society and a member its Visual Arts and Digital Imaging Groups. I am also the Chair of the Leighton Buzzard Photographic Club, a position that I have held for some years and which I greatly enjoy. Several of my prints have been entered into inter club and National competitions with some success. I hope you enjoy going through my portfolios and will return occasionally to see any new content. Above all I hope it inspires you to enjoy your photography, wherever it may take you.
Hi, I’m Mike Kitchingman, Just a few words to introduce myself. I have been practising photography for the last 53 years starting with a Rolleiflex six cm. square format and graduating a few years later to a Nikon F 35 mm. I have always done my own processing as I believe that to maintain control of your image from start to finish is the only way to fully realise one’s vision, consequently much of my time was spent in the darkroom in the early days. I have since then become reasonably proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and use these for all my processing with the addition of various plug ins such as DXO Nik efex and On1 Photo Raw. My main interests now are Architecture, Abstract and Street Photography with an occasional dabble into Compositing and Landscape. Much of my Architectural work is presented in monochrome as, in my opinion, it suits the subject better, giving me the leeway to concentrate on shadow, shape and form. I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society and its Visual Arts group and I am, at the moment, assembling a panel of pictures to submit for an L.R.P.S. Distinction. I am the Chair of the Leighton Buzzard Photographic Club, a position that I have held for some years and which I greatly enjoy. As a member a number of my prints have been entered into interclub and National competitions with some success. I hope you enjoy going through my portfolios and will return occasionally to see any new content. Above all I hope it inspires you to enjoy your photography, wherever it may take you.
